Objective Serum calprotectin(S100A8 / A9)levels in different glucose-metabolizing populations were determined by ELISA,and the correlations were analyzed with body mass index,waist-hip ratio, fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, insulin resistance index,Lower serum calprotectin levels, and the relationship between insulin resistance. Methods According to the 1999 World Health Organization(WHO)diagnostic criteria for diabetes and the recommendations of the International Committee of Diabetes Experts in November 2003,the threshold of IFG was revised to 5.6-6.9mmol/L,divided into normal control group(NGT)44 cases, impaired glucose tolerance group(IGT)41 For example,43 cases of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Subjects were tested for fasting insulin, serum calprotectin levels and body parameters, biochemical indicators, such as age, height, weight, blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure, calculated three groups of subjects BMI,waist-hip ratio, calculated using the HOMA formula Group insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR),and their variance analysis, correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis.Results1.BMI,WHR,TG,LDL,fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin and serum calprotectin in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus group and pre-diabetes mellitus group were significantly higher than those in normal group(all P <0.05).2.Fasting insulin, serum calprotectin concentration and insulin resistance index were significantly different among the three groups(P<0.01).3.Serum calprotectin concentrations in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients were positively correlated with BMI,WHR,TG,HDL,fasting plasmaglucose and insulin resistance index(all P <0.05).4.BMI,insulin resistance index,HDL and other diabetes-related risk factors may affect serum calprotectin levels.ConclusionsSerum calprotectin levels are significantly elevated in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients and impaired glucose tolerance.,it may be an important link in the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.Serum calprotectin may play a key role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.
