Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common malignant cancers with a poor prognosis and high mortality. Thanks to the development of biotechnology, experiment and computer technology, more and more biomarkers were found to effect on HCC prognosis in decades, but these studies were scattered and there were no unified identifiers. Therefore we built the database of prognostic biomarkers and models for hepatocellular carcinoma(dbPHCC)to help all the researchers in HCC research. We focus on biomarkers which were related to HCC prognosis by traditional experiments rather than High-throughput technology. All of the prognostic biomarkers came from literatures issued during 2002 to 2014 in PubMed and were manually selected.dbPHCC collects comprehensive information between candidate biomarkers and HCC prognosis. Then,we have to gather the information as background, combined with existing data in a common database, and use of biostatistics, bioinformatics and computer technology to provide convenient survival analysis tool for researchers. At last we mainly contain 567 biomarkers: 323 proteins,154 mRNAs and 90 microRNAs through the literature excavation. For each biomarker, the references information, experimental conditions, biomarker information and prognostic information are shown. We did further research based on these information combined with the public data, and we found that miRNA and its targets play an important role in the development of HCC,also the phosphotransferases system(PTS)was closely linked with the prognosis of HCC,than prognostic markers in dbPHCC have the potential to be therapeutic targets and can be used in drug-repositioning.Meanwhile we provide a full range of browsing and searching and online analysis tools for researchers.dbPHCC is available at http://lifecenter.sgst.cn/dbphcc/.Our research was to provide a comprehensive search and analysis platform for HCC prognosis research,to improving survival of HCC patients.
