Objects: Our aims are to investigate the prevalence of hyperuricemia(HUA)and metabolic syndrome(MetS),to evaluate the risk factors of HUA,to assess the relationship between SUA and/or HUA and MetS and its components, and it may provide scientific evidence to prevent HUA and MetS in adults in Liangshan region,Sichuan Province. Methods: this study took stratified cluster sampling method from May 2014 to February 2016,and 3188 res idents over 18 years old in Xichang,Dechang,Mianning and Yanyuan counties of Liangshan prefecture were investigated by unified training investigators through field questionnaire, physical examination, blood biochemistry examination. We collected the general demographic information and living habits of the subjects, measured blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, collected blood samples and measured blood lipids,FPG,SUA,SCr and BUN.Statistical analysis was carried by using SPSS19.0 software, stratified analys is was performed by gender,t text,ANOVA and chi square test were used for comparison between groups,Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to assess the correlation b etween SUA and clinical biochemical indexes, extraction of dietary pattern used component factor analysis, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analys is was used to evaluate the risk factors of HUA and the association of SUA levels and MetS and its components.Results:(1)By inclusion and exclusion criteria,3161 people were included in the final analys is,including 1680 men and 1481 women, mean age was(44.48±14.52)years,men was(43.09±14.65)years,women was(46.05±14.23)years;(2)Mean SUA level of all subjects investigated was(348.91±95.91)μmol/L,it was significantly higher in men than in women(t=36.595,P<0.001).The prevalence of HUA was 26.8%,it was significantly higher in men than that observed in women(35.2% vs 17.3%,P<0.001).The prevalence of MetS was 16.1%,it was also significantly higher in men than that observed in women(18.2% vs 13.7%,P<0.01).(3)As showed by binary non-conditional logistic regression analys is,age is a protective factor of HUA,and men, education level(> 6 years),overweight, obesity, central obesity, hypertension and hypertriglyceridemia are risk factors of HUA.Four dietary patterns were extracted by principal component factor analys is: "mushrooms and beans pattern"," animal giblets pattern","pickled bacon pattern","soft drinks pattern",and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 40.5%.After adjusting for the related confounding factors, multivariate Logistic regression analys is showed that the mushrooms and beans pattern was the risk factor of HUA,and compared with T1,the OR of HUA in T3 was 1.355 fold(95%CI: 1.087-1.689).(4)Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that SUA in men and women was positively correlated with WC,BMI,SCr,WHTR,WHR,TG,TC,LDL-C and BUN,negatively correlated with HDL-C,and was not correlated with FPG.(5)The levels of SUA and the prevalence of HUA in subjects with MetS and its components was higher than that in subjects without them, and the prevalence of MetS and its components with HUA and increased SUA levels was also higher.(6)After adjustment of age, education, occupation, current smoking(Yes/No)and current drinking(Yes/No)and so on,the OR of MetS in men with HUA was 1.652(95%CI: 1.205-2.264),and it was 2.530(95% CI: 1.664-3.8455)in women with HUA.Compared with the first quartile Q1 of SUA,the OR of MetS in men Q3 and Q4 were 1.672(95%CI: 1.034-2.702),2.058(95%CI: 1.276-3.322),and the OR of MetS in women Q4 was 2.247(95%CI: 1.368-3.692).(7)The SUA levels were divided into 7 groups by per 60μmol/L in men and women. The SUA threshold level of increasing MetS prevalence(Defined as the mean prevalence of MetS by gender)was 420μmol/L(7mg/dl)in men and 300μmol/L(5mg/dl)in women.Conclusions:(1)The prevalence of HUA was 26.8%,which it was higher in men than in women(35.2% vs 17.31%).The prevalence of MetS was 16.1%,which it was also higher in men than in women(18.2% vs 13.7%).(2)The influencing factors of HUA: men, education level(>6 years),overweight, obesity, central obesity, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia and mushrooms and beans pattern were the risk factors of HUA.(3)HUA was closely associated with MetS and its components, and the prevalence of MetS and its comp onents increased with rais ing SUA levels, even within the normal range of SUA levels. In this study,The SUA threshold level of increasing MetS prevalence was 420μmol/L(7mg/dl)in men and 300μmol/L(5mg/dl)in women.
