Introduction:Recently years, endoscopic drainage(ED)and percutaneous drainage(PD)has gradually be widely used in management of patients with symptomatic pancreatic fluid collections(PFCs).This study aimed to compare compare the clinical effectiveness and safety of endoscopic drainage to percutaneous drainage in treatment of PFCs.Material/Methods:An ambispective cohort study was conducted based on hospital medical records, which included PFCs patients receiving ED or PD between 2009 and 2017,observing the initial success rate, adverse events, intervention, turn to surgical treatment, hospital mortality within 30 days, the length of stay and the expenses during their hospitalization, and a follow-up investigation of treatment outcome conducted in December 2017.Long-term recovery, recurrence and mortality were determined according to telephone follow-up.Results:In total,129 patients were included in the study;62patients underwent ED;and 67 had PD during the 8-year study period. In the patients who were managed by ED,the initial treatment success was considerably higher than in those managed by PD.Rates of procedural adverse events, reintervention, length of hospitalization and the expense were all higher in the PD cohort compared to the ED group, but long-term recovery rate and requirement of surgical intervention of both measure had no obviously difference. Conclusion:Compared with PD,ED of symptomatic PFCs was associated with higher rates of initial treatment success, lower rates of reintervention and adverse events and shorter lengths of hospital stay.
