Objective: To investigate the vitamin D level of pregnant women settled in the Urumqi Municipality and explore the correlation among vitamin D level, the growth and development of fetal and demographic characteristics.Method s: A total of 1435 pregnant women in the middle and advanced stage were selected as the subjects and the levels of vitamin D,the indexes of head circumference, chest circumference, fetal weight and size were measured. Results:Only 246(17.14%)pregnant women had adequate vitamin D status(25(OH)D?75nmol/ml),476(33.17%)pregnant women for insufficiency(50nmol/L?25(OH)D<75nmol/ml)and 713(49.69%)for deficiency(25(OH)D<50nmol/L)respectively.The Vitamin D level was not effected significantly by the age, education, household income and BMI of pregnant women. But compared with countryside, spring and winter,it was more likely to cause the vitamin D deficiency. In addition, the level of vitamin D in pregnant women did not have a significant impact on fetal head circumference and chest circumference, but can significantly affect the fetal weight and size.Fetal low birth weight(LBW)was relative risk significantly higher(3.99 vs 1)than normal levels of vitamin D in pregnant women. Conclusion:Most pregnant women in Urumqi have different degrees of vitamin D deficiency.Pregnant women with vitamin D deficiency can directly affect the growth and development of the fetus in the uterus, especially the fetal size and weight.Pregnant women, settled in the city and delivery in summer and autumn, should pay more attention to enhance outdoor exercise and vitamin D supplement.
