Tooth whitening material is a widely used biomedical material.At present,peroxide?hydrogen peroxide or urea peroxide?is predominantly used to bleach enamel,This treatment is,an apparently non-destructive whitening technology.However,in fact,the utilization of peroxide can bring on a series of problems,such as enamel demineralization,tooth sensitivity,gingival irritation,cytotoxicity and acute pulpitis.If we could find a new photo-catalytic biomedical material with low stimulation and low toxicity to whiten teeth.It will be conducive to the development of tooth whitening materials.In the present study,PDA membrane was modified on the surface of nano-TiO2particles.Under the visible blue light,the as-prepared nano-TiO2@PDA composite could energize electrons to release reactive oxygen species?ROS?which provided us reliable basis for its application in the field of tooth whitening.We prepared the nano-TiO2@PDA complex by a simple method.In addition,a series of material characterizations were made.We used nano-TiO2@PDA to whiten teeth under the blue light,and then,we compared the color to evaluate the effect of whitening.We observed the enamel surface by using SEM.Secondly,we carried out the toxicity test in vivo and in vitro,antibacterial detection of nano-TiO2@PDA complex was made either.The results showed that blue light activated nano-TiO2@PDA not only had ideal whitening effect,but,more importantly,nano-TiO2@PDA exhibited no obvious damage on enamel surface,which made it possible for the essentially high effective and non-destructive tooth whitening.According to the subsequent investigation,this nanocompostie also had good bio-compatibility and certain antibacterial function.As a nanocomposite material with high-effective whitening and excellent biocompatibility,nano-TiO2@PDA was expected to be widely applied in tooth whitening materials.
