Meniere's Disease In Children A Case Report And Review Of The Literture

Objectives:In order to improve the understanding of the clinical manifestation,diagnosis,differential diagnosis,treatment.Methods:We have reported a clinical case about Meniere's disease in children and reviewed the literature in the Chinese journal full text database(CNKI)(8/167)and the foreign journal full text database(Pubmed)(12).Results:patients with recurrent vertigo,hearing loss,tinnitus and(or)fullness is a typical clinical symptoms of Meniere's disease in children.Meniere's disease in children is a rare disease in clinical which the frequency of Meniere's disease in children is only 0.4 – 7.0 per cent of that in adults [5-7].Endolymphatic hydrops is considered to be the basic pathogenesis of MD in children.Many scholars believe that genetic factors may play a more important role in the pathogenesis of MD in children.MD in children with typical clinical symptoms are relatively rare,and the difference from adult MD is mainly three points: MD in children involved bilateral ear is more than that of adults;pure tone hearing threshold in pediatric patients may be normal,the reason may be that patients only have the low frequency(125-250Hz)hearing loss;Another common complaint of MD in pediatric is headache and motor sickness.In addition,it should be seriously differentiated from benign paroxysmal vertigo,Vestibule large water pipe syndrome,vestibular migraine,sudden deafness and Delayed endolymphatic hydrops.In terms of treatment,drug treatment is the main treatment for MD in children,It is reported that the prognosis is better than that of adults.Conclusion:1?MD in children is a rare internal ear disease in Clinical.2?Genetic factors for MD in children probably play an important role in the pathogenesis.3? MD in children often fail to clearly describe their symptoms and lack typical clinical manifestations.In addition,MD in children must be seriously differentiated from benign paroxysmal vertigo,Vestibule large water pipe syndrome etc.4?Drug treatment is the main treatment for MD in children.It is reported that the prognosis is better than that of adults.
