His-Purkinje System Pacing:Case Report And Review Of Literature

Long-term right ventricular apical pacing is known to cause ventricular dyssynchrony,heart failure hospitalizations,atrial fibrillation and increased mortality.His-Purkinje system pacing is the most physiological form of ventricular pacing.By maintaining conduction through the normal His-Purkinje system,His-Purkinje system pacing maintains and restores synchronous electrical activation of both ventricles,and may reduce or prevent the adverse reactions above.There have been multiple reports on permanent His-Purkinje system pacing,which have demonstrated that it is feasible and safe,the bundle branch block can also be corrected,thus protects and improves cardiac function in heart failure patients.It may be the preferred method for ventricular pacing,and may replace the current commonly used biventricular pacing for cardiac resynchronization therapy.
