PHACO And PPVCE In Treating Diabetic Retinopathy Combined With Cataract

Objectice:To evaluate the efficacy of Phacoemulsification(PHACO)in treating patients with cataract combined with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy and Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor combined with Phacovitrectomy(Anti-VEGF/PPVCE)in treating patients with cataract combined with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.Methods:Patients underwent PHACO surgery or pre-operation anti-VEGF treatment combined with PPVCE surgery from 2016-03 to 2017-09 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into 2 groups.anti-VEGF treatment were performed 7-10 days before PPVCE,all patients were followed for BCVA and complication.Results:PHACO group include 16 person 24 eyes,Anti-VEGF/PPVCE group include 19 person 22 eyes.Two groups did not differ in baseline best-corrected visual acuity,gender,age and the duration of diabetes courses.After 6 month follow-up,visual acuity improved in both groups.Postoperative BCVA for PHACO group were better than Anti-VEGF/PPVCE group.The postoperative complications for PHACO group were posterior capsule opacification(2eyes),retinal vein occlusion(leye),vitreous hemorrhage(1eye).postoperative complications for Anti-VEGF/PPVCE group were posterior capsule opacification(2eyes),recurrent vitreous hemorrhage(4eyes),neo vascular glaucoma(2eyes),posterior synechia(1eye)and decentered IOL(leye).Incidence of postoperative complication did not differ significantly between two groups.conclusion:Phacoemulsification alone are safe and effective ways in treating NPDR patients combined with cataract,But varies of complication could occur after surgery,Which deserve more attention of clinicians.Pre-operation Anti-VEGF treatment combined with Phacovitrectomy and phacoemulsificationsafe are safe and effective ways in treating PDR patients coexisting with cataract.
