Objective: To evaluate the value of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors in the eyeball and orbit. Methods :108 patients with suspected eye and orbital tumors were examined by ultrasonography and CT before surgery, results were compared with the pathological findings.Than calculate the two kinds of methods to determine the nature of the tumor's sensitivity, specificity and accuracy, and to explore those technology in the diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors of the eye. Results :The sensitivity of routine ultrasound examination for benign and malignant tumors is 78.8%(52/66),specificity is 83.3%(35/42),the accuracy is 80.5%(35/42)(87/108);the sensitivity of CT scan examination is 86.4%(57/66),specificity is 85.7%(36/42),the accuracy is 86.1%(93/108),compared with conventional ultrasonography and CT diagnosis of benign and malignant tumor, there was no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05).The detection rate of color Doppler flow in benign tumors of II-III class was only 27.4%.The detection rate of II-III class blood flow in malignant tumors has reached 88.9%.There is a significant difference between two groups(P<0.01).Conclusion Ultrasonography can clearly show the eye and orbital malignant tumor location, shape, boundary, internal echo, blood flowcharacteristics and invasion of adjacent tissues and so on,and has a high clinical value.in those intraocular and orbital tumor.
