Efficacy Of Tourniquet-assisted Radial Artery Catheterization

Objective:To investigate the influence on the success rate of radial artery catheterization in tourniquet-assisted radial artery catheterization.Methods:One hundred and forty general anesthesia operation patients requiring radial artery catheterization were included in this study and were randomly allocated into touch positioning group(group A)or tourniquet-assisted group(group B),ASA ???,aged 22?88 years.Before conducting radial artery catheterization,the inner diameter of the radial artery of the patients were measured by ultrasound.Radial artery catheterization was conducted after induction of general anesthesia in two groups.The invasive systolic blood pressure(ISBP),invasive diastolic blood pressure(IDBP)and heart rate(HR)in group B were recorded before ligaturing the distal of radial styloid process(Ti).The ISBP,IDBP,HR and the inner diameter of the radial artery of the patients were also recorded after the blocking 1 minute(T2),2 minutes(T3)and 5 minutes(T4)in group B.Radial artery puncture success rate of the first time and the total,number of puncture,puncture time and complications were recorded.Results:Before and after the blocking(Ti-T4),the inner diameter of radial artery in group B had no significant difference.The ISBP in group B was significantly higher after the blocking 1 minute(T2),2 minutes(T3)and 5 minutes(T4)than that at Ti.Compared with group A,in group B,the first time and the total radial artery puncture success rate were significantly high,the number of puncture and the puncture time significantly reduced.Conclusions:Tourniquet-assisted radial artery catheterization is a new technique with advantages such as a higher success rate,fewer number of puncture and shorter puncture time.
