Association Between Chronic Kidney Disease And Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia In Surgical Patients

Objective:Using e stimated glomerular filtration rate?eGFR?to evaluate renal function,to approach the correlation between BPH and chronic renal failure in surgical patients with BPH in Suzhou.Methods:From June 2015 to December 2016 a total of 316 cases of BPH patients required surgical intervention were admitted f rom the department of urology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University.All the patients were Han Chinese males,and patients'medical records were reviewed to exclude men with history of prostate cancer,bladder cancer,prostate surgery of any type,neurogenic bladder,neurological conditions that can affect urinary function,and urethral stricture.Patients who initially visited our clinic with acutely ill conditions,such as acute prostatitis,other UTI with fever,complete urinary retention,and other acute medical conditions were also excluded.By collecting inpatient history,eGFR was calculated by formula form creatinine.Formula is u sed as:eGFR=a×?creatinine/b?^c×?0.993?^age.The significant markers were recorded and analyzed,including such as patient basic information,course of disease,anamnesis,international prostate symptom score?IPSS?,quality of life?QOL??maximal urinary flow rate?Qmax??Post void residualurine volume?PVR?,prostate volume?PV?,prostate specific antigen?PSA?.Results:?1?General situation:Included in the study were 316 c ases,including 36 cases in group CKD and 280 cases in non CKD group.The average age was 70.58?6.46,51-79?,prostate volume was 55.65?18.17,28.3-137.2?mL,maximal urinary flow rate was 8.73?4.01,1.7-22.3?mL/s,post void residualurine volume was 71.43?42.83,8-350?mL.?2?Comparison between groups:There was no significant difference of course of disease,IPSS,QOL,Diabetes,PVR?>100mL?,PSA?>1.4ng/mL?between the two group?P>0.05?.There were statistically significant difference of the age,hypertension,eGFR and Qmax between the two group?P<0.05?.The Qmax distribution was compared by the box plot between the two groups,it showed that the CKD group was significantly less than the non CKD group.?3?In group analysis:eGFR value showed negative correlation with age in CKD group?R=-0.552,P<0.0001?,but the other indicators were not significantly related such as course of disease,diabetes,hypertension and Qmax?P>0.05?.Conclusions:Age,hypertension,and maximum urinary flow rate are risk factors for chronic renal failure in the surgical population of BPH patients,Renal function decreased with age in CKD patients.
