Background Psoriasis is a chronic multifactorial disease.Though the etiology and pathogenesis of psoriasis is still unclear, lots of studies have confirmed that it may be concerned with factors of environment and inheritable,as well as the immune system.According to the clinical features, psoriasis usually can be divided into four types: psoriasis vulgaris(Ps V),psoriasis pustulosa, psoriasis arthropathica(Ps A)and erythroderma psoriaticun. The association between the major histocompatibility complex(MHC)and psoriasis is complicated. From our previous study,we discovered anindependent novel susceptibility psoriasis risk HLA loci HLA-B amino acid position 116(HLA-B AA 116)(P = 4.52 × 10-9).Objective In this study,we aim to verifyits relationship with the subphenotypes of psoriasis vulgaris, including geographic position, gender, age of onset, family history and types of present skin lesion(Plaque and Guttate). Methods The observed allele frequencies in cases and controls were compared with the expected frequencies to check for the Hardy –Weinberg equilibrium by the c2 method. We correlated the presence of risk allele with geographicposition, gender, age of onset, family history and types of present skin lesion.P-values,odds ratios(ORs)and 95% confidence intervals(CI)were estimated using SPSS 16.0 and Plink 1.07 software. After Bonferroni correction,P-values below 0.01(0.05/5)were considered to be statistically significant. Results 1.Significant associations were found with northern of geographic position in case only(P = 1.97× 10-4)and subphenotype-control(P = 5.57× 10-5),male in case only(P = 4.77× 10-3)and subphenotype-control(P = 7.31× 10-4),guttata psoriasis in case only(P= 4.08× 10-3)and subphenotype-control(P = 1.27× 10-3).2.There were no significant differences in loci frequency observed between early-onset and late-onset(OR = 1.062,95% CI: 0.9725–1.16,P = 1.8× 10-1)and the family history of psoriasis(OR = 0.981,95% CI: 0.9048-1.064,P = 6.43× 10-1).Conclusion Ourresults implied that HLA-B AA 116 might not only play important rolein the development of psoriasis, but also positively associated withthe geographic position, gender and present skin lesion in Chinese Population.
