Objective: In order to evaluate the advantages on liver injury and regeneration after partial hepatectomy when applying selective-Airbag portal vein arrester method to partial hepatectomy,we generate the rat model undergoing different methods including Pringle maneuverand portal vein blockage which contribute to the successful application of this arrester in laparoscopically hepatectomy. Methods: It was performed one-thirds hepatectomy in rat animal model. The animal were divided into four groups depends on methods of the blockage liver blood within the effective blocking time. The study group were performed on intermittent selective-Airbag portal vein blood arrester. Two positive control groups were alternatively used the intermittentfirst hepatic portal blocker(Pringle's)and intermittent portal vein blocker. One negative group had no interference. After 24 hours,72hours and 168 hours of one-thirds hepatectomy respectively,we measure the bleeding volume and liver function, ischemia reperfusion injury and regeneration changes to evaluate the advantage of intermittent selective-Airbag portal vein blood arrester. Results: Bleeding volume in animals subjected to Pringle group persisted in significant degrees higher than other groups. The differences between intermittent portal vein blocker and study group showed no significant. The effective time in all group were limited to 60 minutes. The alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and malonaldehyde(MAD)Levels in Pringle group were much higher after 24 and 72 hours respectively.By 168 hours, the values of ALT in all group were back to normal..The proliferating cell nuclear antigenmarker(PCNA)which were related to the liver injury and regeneration were increased in all groups showed little significant differences. But the study group using intermittent selective-Airbag portal vein blood arrester and intermittent portal vein blocker positive control group could dramatically ameliorate the liver injury compared to Pringle group. Conclusion: The animals subjected to intermittent selective-Airbag portal vein blood arrester group were showed much less bleeding volumes in one-thirds hepatectomy within60 minutes effective time and could significantly ameliorate the ischemia reperfusion injury which were contributed the liver cell regeneration in the early stage.
