Background and objective: There are similar cardiovascular risk factors in Atherosclerosis and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction.Researches showed that left ventricular diastolic function was bound up with arteriosclerosis, and advanced LV diastolic dysfunction may accompanied with increased arterial stiffness, which is still controversial. This study was aimed to evaluate the relationships between severity of arteriosclerosis and left ventricular diastolic function in patients. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 860 patients in our hospital who were arranged for echocardiography examination and ba PWV from January 2014 to December 2015.Clinical data, biochemical indicator, echocardiograph parameters, arteriosclerosis indicators such as IMT,carotid plaque score,ba PWV,ABI were recorded.According to the recommendation released in 2016 by American Society of Echocardiography(ASE)on how to evaluate left ventricular diastolic function by echocardiograph, all cases were divided into normal diastolic function(DD0)and diastolic dysfunction(DD),the latter was further split up into two subgroups,DD with normal LAP(DDa)and that with elevated LAP(DDb).Results:1.Compared with group DD0,the value for ba PWV was higher in group DD(P<0.05).Two subgroups were also higher than group DD0(P<0.05).No significant differences were noted in ba PWV between group DDa and group.DDb.After corrected age,the value for ba PWV in group DDb was higher than in group.DD0(P<0.05).The value for ABI did not differ significantly between the above groups.2.Compared with group DD0,the value of carotid IMT and plaque score was higher in group DD(P<0.05).IMT in group DDa and group DDb was higher than in group DD0(P<0.05).Carotid plaque score in group DDb was higher than the group DD0(P<0.05).No significant differences were showed in IMT and carotid plaque score between group DDa and group DDb.There was no significant difference in IMT between the above groups after corrected age.3.Correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between index of arteriosclerosis and other variables.(1)The value for ba PWV was correlated positively with age, female, heart rate, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, blood pressure, left atrial diameter, wall thickness,E/e.The correlation with age, systolic blood pressure, pulse pressure was closer, the value for r were respectively 0.536,0.591,0.565,all P<0.05.After corrected age,the value for ba PWV was correlated lowly with e,E/e and E/A.(2)There was low or no correlation between the value for IMT and the above factors and indicators.Carotid plaque score was relate to age(r = 0.437,P <0.05).4.A multiple stepwise regression analysis was conducted to correct the influences of different risk factors on ba PWV and carotid plaque score in all patients. And result indicated that age, systolic blood pressure, heart rate, elat velocity, diabetes were independently associated with ba PWV.And systolic blood pressure was the most important factor(? coefficient=0.479,p<0.05).Conclusion:1.Arteriosclerosis is associated with cardiovascular risk factors, especially with age,as well as LV diastolic relaxation.2.Large artery atherosclerosis increased in patients with LV diastolic dysfunction, but did progressed with deteriorated the deterioration of diastolic function, which might indicate the different degrees of effects by cardiovascular risk factors on artery and ventricle.
