ObjectivesTo investigate the clinical outcomes of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion for multilevel cervical spondylosis.MethodsA retrospective study of 26 patients with multilevel cervical spondylosis treated in our hospital from March 2014 to March 2015.Of the 26 patients,13 patients were treated with anterior cervical discectomy and fusion while the others were treated with anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion.Comparing with the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the hospital stay, the loss of intervertebral height and the Cobb's angle loss after the surgery, dysphagia rate and fusion rate.VAS scores,NDI scores,JOA scores were made before operation and 3 months,6 months,12 months after operation.ResultAll patients were followed up for 12 months. The operation time, blood loss, average length of hospital stay, the loss of intervertebral height and the Cobb's angle loss were greater in ACCF group(P<0.05).ACDF and ACCF both had different degrees of dysphagia, but the symptom all disappeared after 6 months. There was no significant difference on postoperative amelioration of VAS scores,NDI scores,JOA scores and fusion rate(P>0.05).ConclusionBoth techniques can get satisfactory effects, but ACDF is better than ACCF in terms of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the hospital stay, intervertebral height and Cobb's angle. But ACDF cannot replace ACCF absolutely. It depends on the patient's specific situation when choosing techniques.
