Objective To investigate the complications and related risk factors of autologous cranioplasty.Materials and methods A retrospective review was performed on 132 patients according to the relevant standards who undergo autologous cranioplasty during the period of 2011.01 to 2014.11 into the Department of Neurosurgery of the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University.Use Logistic multivariate analysis to analysis the relationship between gender, age, operative time, postoperative skull defect, operative interval and complications, and to screening for independent risk factors for postoperative complications.Result 1.The postoperative complications rate was 14.39%(19/132).The cases which have postoperative scalp effusion was 3 cases, incision infection was3 cases,1 cases of bone resorption,2 cases of epidural effusion,4 cases of subdural effusion, the commonest complication was postoperative secondary epilepsy, which have 6 cases and accounted for 4.55%(6/132).2.Univariate analysis showed that the risk factors of postoperative complications were age(P=0.002)and skull defect area(P=0.001).Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that age(P=0.031)and skull defect area(P=0.001)were independent risk factors for postoperative complications.3.There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications about gender(P=0.152),Operation time(p=0.332)and Operation interval. Conclusion In this study, the incidence of cranioplasty postoperative complications was 14.4%(19/132),including secondary epilepsy, subdural effusion, wound infection, scalp effusion, epidural effusion, bone resorption, and so on.The incidence of secondary epilepsy was the highest, reaching 4.5%.The age of the patient and the size of the skull defect were independent risk factors for the occurrence of complications after autologous cranioplasty.
