Objective: To compare the level of red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit,EPO and EPOR in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)and healthy controls. In order to study the relationship and mechanism between the OSAHS and erythrocyte hyperplasia.Methods:41 male Hans, the average age was(49.7±9.5)years old,who were diagnosed as obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)by polysomnography in the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University from December 2015 to December 2016 were selected as OSAHS group.32 healthy male Hans, the average age was(45.4±11.1)years old,who came to Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University for health examination were selected as control group. The apnea/hypopnea index of control group should be less than 5 /h.The venous blood of two groups were taken in the 7A.M.after PSG.The level of red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit,EPO and EPOR were tested and compared. Results: 1.The level of red blood cell count, hemoglobin and hematocrit of the OSAHS group were significantly higher than those of the control group [respectively 5.50(5.18,5.96)vs.5.12(5.01,5.23),P=0.000;(175.5±25.0)vs.(156.9±3.8),P=0.000;50.10(47.00,54.90)vs.48.00(47.23,49.08),P=0.003].There were no significant difference of erythropoietin and erythropoietin receptor between two groups[3.0(1.8,3.4)vs.2.6(2.0,3.9),P=0.523;6.9(5.2,8.1)vs.5.3(3.7,7.6),P=0.102].Hemoglobin was positively correlated with oxygen desaturation index and Sp O2<90% time percentage of total sleep time(r=0.321,0.539,respectively,all P<0.01).Hemoglobin was negatively correlated with the lowest oxygen saturation(r=-0.387,P=0.012)and the average oxygen(r=-0.526,P<0.05),but didn't correlate with erythropoietin and erythropoietin.2.There was no correlation between EPO and sleep index in the two groups. Conclusion: 1.The OSAHS patients had erythrocyte hyperplasia. The hemoglobin was sighnificantly correlated with desaturation during sleep, but didn't correlate with the level of erythropoietin and erythropoietin receptor.2.The serum of OSAHS patients obtained in the morning cann't fully reflect the pathophysiological change during sleep.
