Objective: To report the diagnostic ability of posterior pole asymmetry examination of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography in detecting early glaucoma. Methods:The study conducted at the third hospital of hebei medical university between September 2014 and October 2016.The study included 38 eyes of 23 early glaucoma patients and 27 eyes of 20 normal subjects. All eyes underwent SD-OCT for posterior pole asymmetry examination. The image features of posterior retinal mapping in normal individual and patients with early glaucoma were observed and compared. The number of continuous black squares was noted in the asymmetry analysis.Results:1 The posterior pole retinal thickness in healthy subjects and patients with glaucoma topographic maps were the fovea at thickness. However, the internal ring retinal thickness was thicker than outer ring in healthy subjects and patients with glaucoma.2 The internal ring retinal thickness and outer ring retinal thickness in glaucoma group were thinner than those in control group, there were statistical differences.3 The parameters of posterior pole asymmetry analysis were different in two group, but there is no statistical significance.Conclusions:1 The posterior pole asymmetry examination of SD-OCT is fast and accurate.2 The posterior pole retinal thickness parameters is helpful for diagnosis of glaucoma.3 However, the asymmetry analysis parameters performed poorly and need further examination.
