The thesis is consisted of two chapters, including the investigation of chemical composition and their biological activities of the seeds of Celastrus monospermus and the chemical composition of twigs of Amygdalus persica.By using various chromatographic techniques and spectroscopic methods,34 natural products, including dihydro-β-agarofuran-type sesquiterpenes, acylsucrose derivatives, and flavonoids were identified(Figures 1 and 2).Among them,20 compounds are new compounds.Nine dihydro-β-agarofuran-type sesquiterpenes were evaluated for their lifespan-extending effect using the standard model animal nematodes Caenorhabditis elegans. All the tested compounds were found to extend the average lifespan and maximum lifespan of C.elegans significantly, and celaspermin E(1-5)(50 m M)exhibited comparable lifespan-extending effect to that of the positive control,rapamycin(100 μM).
