Objective: We aimed to evaluate the prevalence and the distribution characteristics of ischemic cerebrovascular disease in inpatients among T2 DM inpatients, and to explore risk factors of old cerebral infarction and chronic cerebral insufficiency so as to provide scientific basis for the prevention of ischemic cerebrovascular disease among T2 DM patients. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted in Metabolic Disease Hospital of Tianjin Medical University between Janurary 1st,2008 and May 1st,2013 extracting relevant information of whom were in hospital. At last a total of 2169 T2 DM inpatients were included in present study.Information of medical records were collected. The prevalence and the distribution characteristics of old cerebral infarction and chronic cerebral insufficiency in T2 DM inpatients were assessed.A total of 178 T2 DM inpatients with old cerebral infarction and 388 T2 DM inpatients with chronic cerebral insufficiencyas cases and 1363 T2 DM inpatients without cerebrovascular diseases as controls were selected in order to analyze correlates of old cerebral infarction and chronic cerebral insufficiency among T2 DM patients by means of non-conditional logistic regression. Results: 1.Among the 2169 T2 DM inpatients,178 had old cerebral infarction,388 had chronic cerebral insufficiency. The prevalence of old cerebral infarction was 8.2%,the prevalence ofchronic cerebral insufficiency was 17.9%.Both of them increased with age and duration of diabetes.2.Among the 2169 T2 DM inpatients, compared to non-cerebrovascular disease group, the old cerebral infarction group tend to be elder, had higher level of SBP,and higher prevalence of hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetic foot, hyperfibrinogenemia. The chronic cerebral insufficiencyas group tend to be elder and had higher prevalence of osteoporosis. While, the level of Hb A1 c of both old cerebral infarction and chronic cerebral insufficiencyas groups were lower than non-cerebrovascular disease group. The difference was ststistically significant.3.Results of univariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that older, males, longer duration of diabetes, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),hypertension,coronary heart disease, diabetic foot, family history of hypertension and BMI(29)24kg/m2 were associated with the higher odds of old cerebral infarction in T2 DM patients. Results of univariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that elder, males, longer duration of diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, hypertension, coronary heart disease, hyperfibrinogenemia and osteoporosis were associated with the higher odds of chronic cerebral insufficiency in T2 DM patients. Results of multivariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that elder, males, longer duration of diabetes, family history of hypertension and BMI(29)24kg/m2 were related to old cerebral infarction in type 2 diabetic inpatients. While Results of multivariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that older age and osteoporosis were related to chronic cerebral insufficiency in type 2 diabetic inpatients. Conclusion: The prevalence of old cerebral infarction and the prevalence of chronic cerebral insufficiency among T2 DM inpatients were higher than that among general population. Both of them increased with age and duration of diabetes.Age,gender, and related disease may associated with ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
