The Relation Position Of Aorta And Vertebral Body In Lenke 1 Type Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: A Preliminary Study

Objective:The aim of the study was to clarify the position of the aorta relative to the spine in patients with Lenke type 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis,to provide the preoperative information of surgical approach for clinical surgeon,and to evaluate the risk of surgery.And to explore the value of preoperative CT scan in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.Methods:Collected fourteen patients who were diagnosed Lenke type 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis by our hospital between Dec 2015 and Dec 2016,with the exception of congential malformations,neuromuscular disease,or spine trauma patients with scoliosis.All patients had complete X-ray and computed tomograph imaging data.This study retrospectively analyzed fourteen patients with idiopathic thoracic scoliosis(mean age14.64±2.53 yr,Cobb angel arranged from 30° ~ 68°,10 F,4M)by using Computed tomography imaging(CT).The angle(left pedicle aorta [LtP-Ao] angle,renamed α)and distance(LtP-Ao distance,renamed OB)from the insertion point of the left pedicle screw to the aorta were measured around the apical vertebra.Vertebral rotation angle(β): formed between a perpendicular line starting from the posterior central aspect of the spinal canal and a straight line through the posterior central aspect of the spinal canal and the middle of the vertebral body around the apical vertebra.Then through statistical methods study the relationship between gender,age,main thoracic Cobb angel and vertebral rotation angel-?and α,OB value.Result:Gender has no significant correlation with the position of aorta;there was no significant correlation between age and α,OB value,and there was a slight correlation between age and ?;there was no significant correlation between Cobb angel and α,there was a slight negative correlation between Cobb angel and OB value,and a moderate correlation between Cobb angel and ?.Conclusion:In adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients Lenke 1 type,gender and the position of aorta has no obvious correlation around the apical vertebra,there was a slight correlation between age and vertebral rotation angle.By CT can clearly show relationship between the thoracic aorta and the vertebral body,it can be in preoperative information for clinicians to provide surgical approach and to evaluate the risk of surgery.There was a moderate correlation between Cobb angel and ? and a slight negative correlation between Cobb angel and OB value,then ? and OB value can be used as a complement for clinical Cobb Angle measurement.
