Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of serum mucin 1(s MUC1)in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)and colorectal cancer. Methods: We have collected 93 cases with UC,colorectal cancer and healthy donors in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from September 2015 to October 2016,31 cases in each group. The group of colorectal cancer was divided into two subgroup, one group with metastasis, the other without. The clinical data and serum of the patients were collected. The enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA)was used to compare the s MUCl level in each group. Results: The mean concentration of s MUC 1 in the patients with UC was 8.64±6.09 U/ml.In the patients of colorectal cancer the mean concentration was 9.98±7.75 U/ml,and in the healthy donors the mean concentration was 6.06±3.49 U/ml.The level of s MUC1 in patients with UC(P=0.047)and colorectal cancer(P=0.014)was significantly higher than that in patients of healthy donors. In colorectal cancer, the expression of s MUC1 in patients with metastasis was significantly higher than that in patients without metastasis(P=0.010).But there was no significantly difference between the patients with UC and colorectal cancer(P=0.453).Conclusion : The expression of MUC1 was increased in patients with UC and colorectal cancer, that may predict s MUC1 was connected with inflammation, cancer development and metastasis.
