Combination Drug Therapy For The Treatment Of Status Epilepticus

Status epilepticus(SE)is a common neurological emergency with high mortality and disability rates.Terminating SE early and effectively can improve the prognosis of patients.The traditional therapeutic regimen is ineffective in 30–40% of SE cases.Considering the diverse etiology and complex pathogenesis of SE,combination drug therapies using anticonvulsants with diverse mechanisms might be more beneficial for SE patients than monotherapy in increasing curative effects and reducing side effects.This paper expounds upon the advantages of polytherapy by studying the combination drug therapies in clinical trials and animal experiments.The study of combination drug therapies for SE may be useful due to the recent date of which the advantage of polytherapy over monotherapy has been identified.The purpose is to help clinicians seek rational treatment schedules for early termination of SE.
