Objective: To analyze the differences of osseous structure of TMJ between patients with TMD and control group by using CBCT,and explore the osseous structural characteristics of TMJ in patiens with TMD.Methods: 30 patients with TMD aged from 20 to 47 were classified into experimental group, including 10 males and 20 females, the mean age of the group was 35.23.15 volunteers with normal TMJ aged from 23 to 45 were classified into control group, including 5 males and 10 females, the mean age of the group was 32.60.All subjects signed the informed consent of clinical trials. The craniofacial region of all subjects with the lage field of view was scaned and rebuilt the 3D images by CBCT,then the reconstructed images were corrected and the measurement plane was chosen. The mediolateral diameter of the condyle, the anteroposterior diameter of the condyle, condyle horizontal angle and radius value were measured on the axial plane. The inclination and height of articular eminence, the width of glenoid fossa and the anterior, superior, posterior joint space were measured on the corrected sagittal plane. The medial, lateral joint space were measured on the corrected coronal plane. All measurements data were analyzed by the SPSS 19.0 statistical software. Results: All measurements of TMJ between the left and right side showed no statistical difference in the control group(P>0.05).All measurements of TMJ between the left and right side showed no statistical difference in the experimental group(P>0.05).Compared to the control group, the anteroposterior and the mediolateral diameter of the condyle, and the inclination of articular eminence were smaller in the experimental group(P<0.05);The anterior joint space of the experimental group was larger than the control group(P<0.05);No statistical differences were found in radius value, condyle horizontal angle, width of glenoid fossa, height of articular eminence and the superior, posterior, medial, lateral joint space between the experimental group and control group(P>0.05).Conclusion: 1.CBCT can be used to preliminary evaluate the osseous structural changes of TMD;2.Compared with the control group,in TMD patients, the inclination of articular eminence, mediolateral and anteroposterior diameter of condyle get smaller, while the anterior joint space gets wider.
