Objective: To understand the experience and needs of women in the process of choosing vaginal birth after cesarean,making it clear what are the current problems and needs,better for medical workers to give care and guidance.In addition,the analysis from two aspects of medical staff and maternal explore the social factors that affect vaginal birth after cesarean,and to analyze strategies to raise the rate of vaginal birth after cesarean.Methods: This research adopts the phenomenological approach of the qualitative research.1.Participants: the purposive sampling method are using to select 21 pregnant women(who have experienced a cesarean section,and have a strong willingness to vaginal birth after cesarean,including 7 cases of successful VBAC),7 cases of doctors and 8 cases of midwives.2.The content of the interview: using semi-structured interview outline interviewing pregnant women to explore experience of VBAC choosing during pregnancy.Interviewing medical staff and successful VBAC maternal to exploring social factors of VBAC.3.Data analysis: using Colaizzi content analysis to sort and analyze interview data.Results:1.Through data collection and analysis,four themes were explored on the experience of pregnant women: expectation and uncertainty,eager for support,fear of cesarean section and the positive expectation of VBAC.The eager for support includes: family attitude,companion's experience and professional advice.2.The social factors that affect VBAC were extracted three themes: cognitive factors,medical resources,maternal management.Cognitive factors include cognize of medical personnel,pregnant women and their families;Medical resources include human resources and materials resources;Maternal management includes management during pregnancy and labor management.Conclusions: The women in the process of choosing VBAC showed obvious uncertainty,needing a variety of social support.Medical personnel should pay attention to health education and psychological counseling and give decision support to them.The rate of VBAC is influenced by many social factors,both doctors and women should improve cognition,integration of medical resources,and improve maternal management to improve VBAC rate.
