Objective: To investigate the reasons of OCT in NAION focused mainly on MT?IRCand outer retinal complex ORC,and assessed the relationship of MT?IRC?ORC measurement with visual field defects and function parameters within 10 days of onset and again 1,3 months later.The other objective of this study was to evaluate whether choroidal thickness is a risk factor for the development of NAION by evaluating the subfoveal choroidal thickness in affected patients.Methods 1 This was a retrospective review of consecutive patients with NAION.We analysed twenty-five newly NAION eyes and controls(unilateral NAION patients with full contralateral eye vision)who underwent SD-OCT of the macula at baseline 1 month later and 3 month later.All of them at baseline under went complete ophthalmic examination,including best corrected visual acuity,visual field,FFA,VEP.All of them underwent SD-OCT and visual field during each of the follow-up process.Methods 2 We analysed twenty-five newly NAION eye and control(10 individuals selected randomly from 30 health individuals)who underwent SD-OCT at baseline.Results 1: At baseline,we found a significantly increased mean thickness of MT(342.80±27.44?m,p?0.001),IRC(142.06±16.80?m,p=0,002),ORC(200.36±14.7?m,p=0.006)compared to the healthy eyes.1 month later,compared with the acute time the thickness of MT,IRC,ORC were thinned.After 3 month,the MT(296.8±33.53?m,p=0.030),IRC(114.96±18.02?m,p=0.030)was significantly thinned compared with the fellow eye.Results 2 We found the macular fovea choroidal thickness(267.72±21.24?m)were significant thinned compared to the controls(293±20.53?m,p?0.001).Conclusions The thickness of MT ? ORC ? IRC were significant thicker than the controls occurred early in the course of NAION.With evolving over time,the MT and IRCwere in the atrophy.After 1 month,there was no changes on the ORC.Acute period to 1month,retinal thickness in each layer had the greatest reduction..MT and IRC thickness were associated with visual dysfunction.At baseline,MT has the most correlation with MD,while 1 month and 3month,IRC was more value on MD than MT.The thickness of MCT in NAION were thinner than healthy people.
