Objective: To observe the effect of medium and long chain triglyceride emulsion propofol in general anesthesia of infants and evaluate its effect on hemodynamics, recovery period quality and the liver function. Methods: A total of 50 infants with general anesthesia were randomly selected from our hospital.Inclusion criteria: 1 month to 3 years old;ASA I-II grade;operation time within 2 hours. The infants were randomly divided two groups: medium and long chain triglyceride emulsion propofol group?group M?and sevoflurane group?group S?.Group M and group S were induced and maintained by medium and long chain triglyceride emulsion propofol and sevoflurane anesthesia respectively. The HR and MAP were observed and recorded before induction of anesthesia?T0?,tracheal intubation?T1?,at the end of operation?T2?and extubation immediately?T3?.The recovery time of spontaneous respiration after drug withdrawal and the time from spontaneous breathing to extubation time was recorded, and the occurrence of restlessness and nausea and vomiting occurred during the recovery period was also recorded. The changes of ALT and AST were measured at the preoperative, postoperative, and 24 hours after operation. Results: 1.There were no statistically significant differences between two groups in age, body height, body weight and operation time.?P >0.05?2.There were no differences between two groups in MAP and HR at T0.Compared with T0,the HR and MAP were all decreased in two groups.?P <0.05?3.In the group M,the recovery time of spontaneous breathing to extubation was shorter than that in the group S?P<0.05?.The incidence of restlessness, nausea and vomiting in the group M was less than that in the group S,the difference was statistically significant?P <0.05?.4.There were no significant differences in ALT and AST in the postoperative and postoperative 24 hours compared with preoperative.?P >0.05?Conclusions: Medium and long chain triglyceride emulsion propofol can be safely used in infant anesthesia with the advantages of low incidence of agitation, nausea and vomiting in recovery period.Medium and long chain triglyceride emulsion propofol does not affect the liver function in short time surgery.
