Objective: To study the characteristics of cognitive impairment in the patients with acute ischemic stroke. Methods: We measured the degree of corresponding carotid artery stenosis/ vertebral artery stenosis, and recorded the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)at admission in 82 acute ischemic stroke patients and 25 healthy volunteer from September 2016 to February 2017 in Department of Neurology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Hospital.By using SPSS16.0 statistical analysis package to statistical analysis, the characteristics of cognitive impairment in different location with stroke and the relationship of cognitive impairment and responsibility for vascular stenosis were analyzed.Result: Our study showed that 48 cases(58.5%)appeared cognitive impairment. The total scores of MMSE in anterior circulation infarct group, posterior circulation infarct group, healthy control group were 22.35±2.45,24.88±2.11,27.36±1.85(P<0.05).The significantly impaired cognitive domains in MMSE subitems were orientation(7.52±0.87),memory(2.38±0.73),attention and calculation(3.56±0.71),delay recall(2.15±0.58),language(3.65±0.81),visual space and executive function(1.83 ± 0.63)with anterior circulation infarct group;orientation(8.15±0.89),attention and calculation(3.91±0.75)with posterior circulation infarct group. In patients with acute ischemic stroke,MMSE total score and vascular stenosis was statistically significant, when the vascular stenosis,MMSE total score lower. In anterior circulation infarct group, the total score of MMSE in vascular stenosis subgroup and vascular non-stenosis subgroup respectively were 20.72±2.14,23.33±2.11,P<0.05.In posterior circulation infarct group, the total score of MMSE in vascular stenosis subgroup and vascular non-stenosis subgroup respectively were 23.82±2.36,25.39±1.83,P<0.05.Conclusion: Cognitive function in stroke patients with anterior circulation stroke patients was significantly decreased compared with posterior circulation. The cognitive domains impaired in anterior and posterior circulation infarct group were different. The cognitive impaired and arteriostenosis was statistically significant.
