The Ancient Literature Research Of Acupuncture Treatment Of Senile Dementia

Objective: Based on Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine,this paper searches the ancient Chinese literatures about acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of senile dementia,in order to analyze and summarize the law of acupuncture treatment for senile dementia and provide the theory basis and clinical guidance for modern treatment.Method: Retrieve Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine(the fifth edition)by computer and sort out the related literatures in the 50 of the acupuncture and tuina books.Establish the database after completing the standardization of data processing and make a statistical analysis with Microsoft Excel.Results:1.The study was retrieved 29 departments of ancient book of senile dementia.The A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion written in the Jin Dynasty by Huangfu Mi is the earliest records mentioned the acupuncture prescriptions for curing senile dementia.In the Tang,Song,Yuan Dynasty the development is slowly,then reached its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.2.The acupuncture prescriptions add up to 486.Acupuncture points are 93.The total used frequency is 684 times.There are 414 prescriptions which are composed of one single acupoint,40 prescriptions which composed in pairs,and the other are composed by more than three points.There are a few literatures that recorded the techniques of acupuncture and moxibustion in detail,which account for 4.12 percent of all articles.When it comes to 93 acupoints,92 of them are in the Fourteen Meridians and 1 of them is specific acupoint.The first point which appears highest frequency is Shen Men(HT 7),the second is Bai Hui(DU 20),the third is Xin Shu(BL 15).According to the meridians where the points exist,the top three meridians are the Urinary Bladder Meridian of FootTaiyang(UB),Governor Vessel and Gallbladder Channel of Foot-shaoyang(GB).According to the classify of points,the Specific-points are primarily.What’s more,the Five-shu point,the Eight Confluent acupoint,the Luo-connecting acupoint are more important among the Specific-points.As well as,Shu-stream point is the most frequently used point in the Five-shu point.According to the general distribution,most of points are distributed in limbs and head and face.Conclusion: Althrough TCM didn’t put forward the name of senile dementia,it had already awared of the existence of the disease.According to clinical symptoms including amnesia,psychiatric disorder,language of confusion and so on,the ancient physicians put forward the relevant theoretical basis and wrote down acupuncture treatment that achieved good effect.Moreover,they pointed out the prevention is more important than treatment.The subject summarizes the experiences of predecessors in order to provide reference for modern clinical treatment of senile dementia.
