Objective:By means of preventability intravenous dexamethasone before endotracheal intubation to child patients with cleft lip, campares the incidence of laryngeal oedema after extubation, evaluates the curative effect of dexamethasone to prevent laryngeal oedema, discusses its mechanism of antion, provides the theory and practice basis for its further promotion and clinical use.Method:Collected 140 cases in the fourth affiliated hospital of Kunming University anaesthesiology department from January 2013 to November 2016,which accepted general anaesthesia and mechanical ventilation, all of them were used oral trachea cannula. They were divided into two groups:the observation group and the control group.70 cases in the observation group were used dexamethsone, the control group used nothing. All of the child patients in this study including 92 male children,65.7%,48 female children,34.3%.All of the endotracheal intubation operation were conducted by attending or above the attending doctors.Closely observation the change of the childrens' respiratory function after extubation, according to the degree of the laryngeal edema, dehydration therapythe would be used, secondary intubation or tracheostomy was needed in emergency.Record the amount of the laryngeal edema in each group. All of the recorded data was performed using SPSS 20.0(IBM Statistics 20.0)statistical soft ware, measurement data examined by the normality test, normal distribution data recorded by modality, the comparison among groups used the t test or variance analysis,non-normal distribution data recorded by Me(25 th ?75th%),the comparison among groups uesd rank sum test;Count data recorded by the number of cases, comparison among groups used the ?2 test, there was statistical significance if P<0.05.Results:There were 4 child patients occurred laryngeal edema in the observation group,5.7%.6 child patients occurred laryngeal edema in the control group 8.6%.The incidence of the laryngeal ederma examined by Fisher exact probability method, there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusion:Preventability intravenous dexamethasone can't reduce the incidence of postextubation laryngeal edema, therefore we don't recommend this method to prevent laryngeal edeam.
