As they are loaded on board the vessels, dangerous chemicals may volatile and leak out, bringing about potential risks to the life and health of the crew.As one of the most commonly used chemical materials, benzene and benzene series enjoy the largest freight volume among the dangerous chemicals transported across the oceans.Possessing the typical characteristics of dangerous chemical,it is labeled as the first class extreme hazardous chemical.Hence, the loading of benzene is a representative choice to study on.First of all,a study was launched on the dangerous chemicals-loaded bulk vessels and characteristics of the operation process of loading dangerous chemicals.Under the guidance of the Heavy Gas Theory, sampling sites were located in the distribution areas of benzene volatilizing on vessels during loading.Second, according to the physical and chemical properties of benzene and the characteristics of dangerous chemicals ships, experiments are conducted using a combination of active sampling and passive sampling. The Agilent gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to formulate marking and analyze the density and ingredients of the gas.Average value and exposure assessment were given to the samples via several experiments to find the highest density at the sampling points. With the help of the analyzed experiment data, the author explored the factors influencing the density of benzene volatiles during loading in terms of some environmental elements, such as wind strength, temperature, and the operation of crew safety. Finally, the injury assessment of the volatiles in the process of loading was evaluated from the risk of non-malignancy and the risk of malignancy. And how long the crew stay in the ship.According to the measured concentration, combined with Gauss plume model and PG model,MATLAB simulation is carried out to find out the dangerous area of the crew's work area, providing further safety guarantee for crew safety.Experiment results prove that the volatile mainly includes benzene and other aromatic hydrocarbons in the process of loading benzene on sea ships. The concentration of benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons is highly related to crew's operation standardization. The degree of injury to the crew of benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons is related to the length of exposure time on the deck, especially within the hazardous area. For the crew, the possibility of getting a malignant tumor is not only related to the exposure time on the deck, but also related to the work seniority on a chemical ship. Therefore, the crew must load the cargo strictly in accordance with the standard operating procedures, and it must be strictly limited that the work seniority of relevant work time.
