Part 1 Design and Preparation of 3D-print guider for type Ⅱb odontoid fracturesObjective:The study aimed at making 3D-print personized odontoid screw guider by Using Mimics software.Methods:(1)Initial draft of the 3D-print guider was manually drawn.(2)Obtain the personized image by choosing patients with type Ⅱb odontoid fracture using the Mimics17.0 software to set up the personized model based on the specific date of the patients.(3)Virtual animation of the planned surgery.(4)3D printing the personized screw guider.Results:(1)The draft of the guider was drawn.(2)The personized 3D print model for the patient was obtained by using the Mimics17.0.(3)The virtual animation of the planned surgery showed that the surgery was feasible.(4)The 3D print model was made. The safety and feasibility of the model was tested. Conclusion:Using the DICOM data obtained by patients self scanning, the guider can be successfully prepared by Mimics and 3D printing method.Part 2 Primary clinical application of 3D-print guider for type Ⅱb odontoid fracturesObjective:Primary application of 3D-print guider in clinical practice to evaluate its safety and accuracy. Methods: Relevant date of patients treated in The Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into guider group and control group according to their treatments.Image date, operating time, intraoperative bleeding, number of exposure of radiation and length of hospitalization were analyzed to compare the outcomes of two different treatment. Results:Operating time, intraoperative bleeding, number of exposure of radiation, length of hospitalization were different between the groups as the guider group was better than control group. Conclusion: Using the 3D-print odontoid screw guider for surgery could enhance the safety and precision of the procedure.
