The Application Of Materlalise's Interactive Medical Image Control System (MIMICS) In The Mandibular Tumor Resection And Defect Reconstruction

Objective: To discuss the application value of MIMICS in resection of mandibular tumor and the reconstruction of mandibular defects used by fibula flap in order to provide reliable evidence about designing precise preoperative plan for postoperative good reconstruction results.Methods: 10 patients with mandibular tumor which need mandibular reconstruction were selected from November 2014 to December 2015.Mandible and offered focile were given spiral CT.Then imported the figure to MIMICS and determined the scope of tumor,simulated tumor resection,restored effected side image,simulated reconstruction of fibula flap and predicted the effect of reconstruction.According the preoperative design,resected tumors,made mold by fibula flap,fixed by titanium plate,situated and fixed fibula flap during operation.Results: All operations were successfully completed according to the preoperative simulation and fibula flaps were also survived after.The patient should be reviewed in 1,3,6,9 and 12 months after post-operation.The results showed that the situation of fibula flap all right and the mouth opening was 2-3 fingers and the offered leg healed well without obvious complication by CT or panoramic radiography.The patients were satisfied with the facial shape and the functional recovery of their legs.Conclusion: The application of CT image dates in mandibular tumor resection and defect reconstruction and making surgical procedure in computer by MIMICS to assess the preoperative and predict the postoperative reconstruction effect so as to improve the accuracy of the mandibular tumor resection and the continuity and symmetry of mandibular reconstruction by fibula.
