Objective: To investigate the relationship between left atrial volume index(LAVI)and major adverse cardiovascular events(MACEs)after acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Methods: From December 2015 to June 2016,we recruited 111 patients with acute coronary syndrome consecutively. All patients were divided into two groups according to Left atrial volume index(LAVI)after Echo exam(group A:LAVI?28 ml/m2 and group B:LAVI<28 ml/m2).All patients' demographic characteristics, histories, laboratory tests and echocardiographic parameters were collected. All patients were prospectively followed-up in terms of MACEs at 6 months.Results:(1)At 6-month follow-up,39patients(68%)in group A had MACE as compared to 16 patients(30%)in group B,with statistical significant difference(P<0.001).(2)There is weak positive correlation between LAVI and GRACE risk score(r=0.263,P<0.05).(3)LAVI gradually increased with the increase of GRACE score risk stratification, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)After adjusting for confounding variables by multivariate Logistic regression,LAVI was found to have a significant association with MACEs(P=0.013,OR=1.320,95%CI: 1.059-1.645).Conclusion: LAVI has a strong association with MACEs,which is an independent predictor of major adverse cardiovascular events in patient with acute coronary syndrome.
