Objective: To investigate the Peri-operative efficiency and reliability of local application of Tranexamic acid on hidden hemorrhage after intertrochanteric hip fractures treatment of proximal femoral nail antirotation. Methods:A retrospective study was made a total of 132 geriatric patients with intertrochanteric hip fractures treatment of proximal femoral nail antirotation(PFNA)admitted to our nosodochium between February 1,2014 and November 30,2016.The patients were split into TXA group and control group on the basis of the topical application of TXA.The statistics from patients were gathered and examined comprising age, height, weight, the type of fracture, changes of blood test pre-and-post-operation,blood loss, and complications. Results:The hidden hemorrhage and total blood loss were counted using Gross equation. Results:there were no statistical discrepancy in age,height,weight,pri-operative Hb and Hct between thetranexamic acid group and control group,(P>0.05).The total and hidden hemorrhage and transfusion rate in TXA group was evidently less than non TXA group, with statistical discrepancy(P<0.05).Bleeding during operation was no statistical discrepancy in two groups,(P>0.05).Besides,no one suffered from severe complications like deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in two groups. Conclusion: Local application of Tranexamic acid can markedly decreases hidden hemorrhage and transfusion rate treated with proximal femoral nail antirotation, without raising risks of complications of vascular events.
