Objective: Norovirus infection is a common cause of viral diarrhea in children, especially in children less than 5 years old.Norovirus infection is usually serious and has a protracted course. It also has a series of clinical symptoms. This study investigates the incidence and clinical characteristics of norovirus infection in 181 children with acute diarrhea. We hope the study would give us a better understanding of the disease and shed light on its clinical management. Methods: We collected the fecal specimens of 181 children with the tentative diagnosis of viral diarrhea from January 2015 to January 2017 in the First Hospital of Jinlin University. We extracted the viral RNA and amplified it by RT-PCR.The sequence was analyzed with agarose gel electrophoresis. The clinical data was analyzed with SPSS software. Results: There are 181 specimens in total,of which 48 contained norovirus RNA.The positive rate of norovirus infection was 26.5%.Among the positive specimens,46 contained G?,2 contained both G? and G?.Male to female ratio was1.4:1,and there was no gender difference for infection rate.Detection rate of norovirus infection is higher in winter and spring.Norovirus infection affects mainly children younger than three. For children infected with norovirus,diarrhea(100%)?vomiting(68.8%)? fever(64.6%)? dehydration(58%)were the most common symptoms. There may occasionally be associated abdominal pain and intestinal pseudo-obstruction.Symptoms of respiratory infection may also occur during the course of the disease. The CK-MB is elevated in 72.9% of the norovirus infected children. While ALT may always within normal limits.Norovirus infection usually has a mild clinical course, with a median hospital stay of 6 days.Conclution: 1.G ? group norovirus is the main infectious strain in children.2.Norovirus infection of children has the highest incidence in spring and winter. Both sexes were equally affected.Children less than 3 years old were more easily infected by norovirus;3.The main symptoms of children infected by norovirus were diarrhea?fever?volmiting?dehydration, and could be accompanied with respiratory infection. The CK-MB is elevated in a significant proportion of the norovirus infected children, with a rate of 72.9%.ALT is always within normal limits.4.Currently,norovirus infection is managed with supportive treatment and has a better prognosis.
