ObstractRetrospective analysis the relationship between cerebral infarction volume and left atrial diameter,D-dimer level, mean platelet volume, risk factors of atherosclerosis, the basic condition of admission and discharge inacute cerebral infarction patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation,in order to find out the possibility related factors of predicting the severity of cerebral infarction in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.MethodWe identified patients with acute cerebral infarction who were admitted to the Department of Neurology of the second hospital of Jilin University from September 1,2014 to September 1,2016.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,non-valvular atrial fibrillation were selected among those patients. The medical records of the patients were retrospectively reviewed, and the basic information, previous history, history of drug taking, the basic condition of admission, the biochemical indexes after admission, the imaging findings and the basic condition of discharge were collected. The imaging data of acute cerebral infarction were detected by 3.0T MRI,and the volume of cerebral infarction was measured by Image J software.Multiple regression analysis was used to investigate the relationship between cerebral infarction volume and left atrial diameter,D-dimer,mean platelet volume, risk factors of atherosclerosis, the basic condition of admission and discharge.ResultsA total of 61 patients(36 males and 25 females)were enrolled in this study.Aged from 31 to 93 years, with an average age of(70.9±11.4)years old,and the infarct volume was from 0.08 to 138.90ml,with a median of 20.85ml.Infarction volume significantly correlated withleft atrial diameter(r=0.433,P=0.000),D-dimer level(r=0.487,P=0.000),mean platelet volume(r=0.397,P=0.002),NIHSS score on admission(r=0.511,P=0.000)and NIHSS score at discharge(r=0.412,P=0.000).Multiple regression analyses showed that the left atrial diameter,D-dimer level and mean platelet volume was significantly associated with infarction volume(P=0.004,P=0.007,P=0.003).Conclusion1.The infarct volume inacute cerebral infarction patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation was correlated with left atrial diameter,D-dimer level and mean platelet volume.2.The infarct volume in acute cerebral infarction patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation was not associated with atherosclerosis risk factors(hypertension, diabetes, previous stroke or TIA history,smoking,etc).3.The infarct volume in acute cerebral infarction patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation was correlated with NIHSS score on admission.4.Left atrial diameter,D-dimer level and mean platelet volume may be used as predictors of infarct volume in acute cerebral infarction patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
