Objectives: Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy is a common kind of organ autoimmune disease of Endocrinology which incidence rate is as high as 25% in GD patients.TAO can be treated effectively when it can be diagnosed early.Intravenous glucocorticoids(IV GC)can be regarded as first-line treatment for patients with active moderate-to-severe Graves' ophthalmopathy because of its efficacy and safety.5 g methylprednisolone weekly for Six weeks fo1 lowed by 0.25 g weekly for Six weeks is wildly used. This study will examine the safety and efficacy of this treatment.Methods:(1)Patients diagnosed with the corresponding diagnosis were in Endocrine Department of our hospital during 2013 Jan to 2017 Jan,and their age range from 16 to 70.Then all the patients were taken the name, age, sex and course of disease and so on.Body mass index(BMI)was calculated by the ratio between weight and height squared in Kg/m2.(2)In view of the effectiveness of treatment,we clear patients ocular changes with oculist's help including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, exophthalmos,CAS score.(3)For safety,we should check patient's blood routine, urine routine, liver function, electrolyte,OGTT experiment, cortisol and bone mineral density after treatment ended. At the same time,we observe their symptoms.(4)All the data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 statistical software, and the statistically significance is P<0.05.Results:(1)Compared with before treatment, the right eye intraocular pressure of patients was decreased significantly and the visual acuity improved significantly, there was significant difference(P < 0.01);Compared with before treatment, patients with decreased left IOP,visual acuity, binocular exophthalmos and CAS score decreased significantly, there were statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).(2)The improvement of CAS score was positively correlated with the duration of TAO(r=0.840,P=0.000),and was not related to the duration of GD,BMI and age.(3)The patients with CAS score decreased by 1 to 2 is 4,accounting for 23.53%of all.The patients with CAS score decreased by 3 to 4 is 12,accounting for70.59%of all.The patients with CAS score decreased by 5 and above is 1,accounting for 5.88%of all.(4)Compared with before treatment, there was no significant difference in blood pressure,BMI,liver function, cortisol, blood glucose, ion metabolism and PTH.(5)The patients with Osteopenia is 1,accounting for 5.88%of all cases. The patients with urinary tract infection is 2,accounting for 11.76%of all.The patients with gastrointestinal symptoms is 2,accounting for 11.76%of all.The patients with a slight appearance of Cushing is 2,accounting for 11.76%of all.The patients with new onset of abnormal glucose metabolism is 4,accounting for 23.53%of all.The respiratory tract infection, diabetes mellitus, and myalgia muscle weakness, hypokalemia, depression and other side effects did not occur. Conclusions: In this study, the scheme has better efficacy and safety, especially in relieving eye soft tissue inflammation, improving visual acuity, reducing intraocular pressure, reducing the degree of exophthalmos and other aspects.
