Objective The pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mlletus(T2DM)is still not clear. With the depth of research, relationship between glucagon-like peptide 1(GLP-1)and T2 DM had been paid more and more attention. In recent years, most studies have focused on GLP-1 analogues or receptor agonists. They had showed good effects in control of blood glucose, body mass and obesity improvement. However, the relationship between the levels of endogenous GLP-1 and abdominal obesity is not yet established.so this article aims to observe the levels of GLP-1 in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus with abdominal obesity, and detect the fasting plasma glucose, blood lipids, glycosylated hemoglobin,C-peptide,glucagon,liver and kidney function to explore the correlation between GLP-1 and abdominal obesity and the influencing factors of GLP-1 in newly diagnosed T2 DM.Methods Dividing 102 cases of newly diagnosed T2 DM who were treated in the department of endocrinology in Third Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from February 2015 to February 2016 into abdominal obesity group(AO)(59cases)and non-abdominal obesity group(NAO)(43 cases)according to the different waist circumference. All patients were measured height, weight, waist circumference and calculated body mass index and tested on fasting samples, including GLP-1,Blood gluocose, glucagon,C peptide, plasma lipid and Liver and Kidney function. Results GLP-1 in NAO group were higher than AO group and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).GLP-1 is negative correlated with waist Circumference body mass index blood gluocose, hemoglobin A1 c and total cholesterol(r=-0.518,-0.230,-0.221,-0.591,-0.632;P<0.05)and was positively correlated with C Peptide(r=0.244;P<0.05).Regression analysis showed that waist circumference, total cholesterol, blood gluocose and hemoglobin A1 c were independently associated with GLP-1(β=-0.452,-0.311,0.237,-0.398;P<0.05).Conclusions 1.The level of GLP-1 in newly-diagnosed T2 DM with abdominal obesity was significantly lower than non-abdominal obesity.2.Waist circumference, body mass index, blood glucose, hemoglobin A1 c and total cholesterol were correlated with GLP-1 and they were the actors that influenced its levels.
