| Background:This thesis was based on a review of textbooks,articles and clinical observation for further study of the differentiation,application and evolution of plucking manipulation.Also,a few case studies that were treated in the clinic by my advisor Prof.Tianyuan Yu have been described to clarify the application of plucking manipulation.The main treatment method discussed in this thesis is plucking manipulation,which is a very important treatment method in Massage Tuina for muscle-related,ligament-related and tendon-related disorders.Professor Tianyuan Yu has maintained a clinical practice of Tuina for many years,and has formed a set of new methods from his practice.These methods take meridian theory as its basis,and pay attention to the mechanism and efficacy of the manipulation performed.The aim of this thesis was to define,understand and evaluate the evolution,therapeutic effects and safety of plucking manipulation.Objective:To research the evolution,clinical efficacy and application of plucking manipulation by researching textbooks,reviewing articles and observing clinical treatment of cervical spondylitic radiculopathy in the clinic by Prof.Yu.Methods:A review of pertinent CNKI articles was performed,an analysis of tuina textbooks over the last 57 years was carried out,and clinical cases using plucking manipulation to treat cervical spondylitic radiculopathy were observed in order to research the evolution,application,efficacy and mechanism of plucking manipulation for various disorders related to muscles,tendons and ligaments.About 129 articles were found in CNKI related to the treatment of various disorders using plucking manipulation from the year 1991 to 2017.Many articles were avoided due to lack of authentication and few were rejected for duplication.Among them 64 articles were reviewed and 10 articles were found reliable,which were used in this thesis.The rest of the articles were rejected due to a lack of evaluation of plucking manipulation or were on based primarily on other manipulating techniques.Tuina textbooks from57 years were reviewed,from year 1959-2016,in order to evaluate the evolution of plucking manipulation and its history.Also clinical observation plucking manipulation in Professor Tianyuan Yu's clinic shift at Guoyitang clinic was described,taking cervical spondylitic radiculopathy as an example.Results:1.A comparison of plucking manipulation in the current literature with that of 10 years before showed a vast difference on the quantitative efficacy,and is evidence of how plucking manipulation has advanced in recent years to become a mainstay Tuina manipulation in the treatment of pain and pain-related disorders like cervical spondylosis,lumbar disc herniation and muscle-related pain,significantly improving the results.2.It was also observed how plucking manipulation could be used as both a monotherapy or in combination with other methods and manipulations like kneading manipulation,acupuncture and heat therapy for better results in curing the injury or disease.Furthermore,no significant side effects were observed,yet marked results in pain relief were achieved.Conclusions:Hence it was concluded that plucking manipulation has undergone significant development in recent years to become a mainstay in current Tuina therapy,and is very effective and practical for clinical application.Plucking manipulation can be used for the treating pain related disorders with negligible side effects.Therefore it can be concluded that plucking manipulation can be used as a monotherapy for the disorders related to pain in tendons,muscles,ligaments etc. |
