ObjectiveTo discuss whether the preservation of C7 spinous process and accessory structure can reduce the incidence of axial pain after expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty.Methods41 patients with multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy from June 2013 to February 2015 in our hospital, who underwent C3-C6(control group 19 patients)and C3-C7(experimental group 22 patients)expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty, were analysed retrospectively. To record the operative time, the intraoperative bleeding volume, the JOA score before and after the operation, the cervical vertebra activity before and after the operation, the rate of axial pain after the operation. And to contrast if the above indexes have significant difference.ResultsFollow up time ranged from 12-30 months, with an average of 21 months. There was no significant difference in the amount of blood loss and the operative time between two groups(P>0.05).After 12 months of follow-up,the JOA improvement rate and cervical vertebra activity showed no difference between two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of axial pain after the operation showed no difference between two groups(P>0.05).ConclusionCompare with the conventional C3-7 expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty, the C3-6 expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty which preserve C7 spinous process and accessory structure can not reduce the incidence of axial pain after the operation.
