BackgroundUlcerative colitis(UC)and crohn's disease(CD)both belong to the inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).IBD is a chronic idiopathic autoimmune disease,it's pathogenic factors is complex,the intestinal inflammation is associated with the genetic factors,environmental factors,immune factors and microorganisms cause[1-2].The incidence of IBD was climbing in recent decades.CD is more common than UC In Europe and the United States,but in China UC is more common than CD [3-4].Vitamin D is a steroid hormone.In addition to the role of maintaining balance of calcium and bone metabolism,the researchers pay more attention to the role of vitamin D in the immune response.Many studies suggest that vitamin D has become a new factors in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases including UC[5].Interleukin 17(IL-17)is a strong pro-inflammatory cytokines produced by Th-17 cells.Studies have shown that IL-17 play an important role in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus and other autoimmune diseases [6-7].Some research shown that IL-17 is closely related to the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis[8-9].Vitamin D can increase T cells(regulatory T cell,Treg),Treg can restrain the Secretion of IL-17 by Th-17 cell through IL-10.Vitamin D also directly regulates differentiation of Th-17 cell,Inhibits the secretion of IL-17[10-11].ObjectiveCollect serum and clinical data of the hospitalized patients with ulcerative colitis from The first affiliated hospital of Dalianmedical university in 78 cases.Collect serum of the healthy people from health medical center in 120 cases.By measuring serum 25-hydroxyitamin D(25-OHVD)and interleukin 17(IL-17)level in the ulcerative colitis patients,to explore the relationship of ulcerative colitis.to investigate the relationship between the both with ulcerative colitis.MethodsMeasured the serum level of IL-17 in 78 patients with ulcerative colitis and 120 healthy people by the method of ELISA.Measured the serum level of 25-OHVD in 78 patients with ulcerative colitis and 120 healthy people by the method of ECL.Analysis of the role of 25-OHVD and IL-17 in Ulcerative colitis,and The correlation between 25-OHVD anf IL-17.Result1.Serum 25(OH)vitamin D level:Serum 25(OH)vitamin D level in UC group(10.00 ±5.09 ng/ml)was significantly lower than controls(13.82 ±5.56 ng/ml)(p < 0.001).Serum 25(OH)vitamin D level in UC group classified by disease activity:remission: 13.63±5.33 ng/ml;activity:8.98±4.58 ng/ml;mild activity:11.47±4.61 ng/ml;moderate activity:9.16±3.00 ng/ml;severe activity:6.23±4.24 ng/ml.Serum 25(OH)vitamin D level in remission group was significantly higher than activitys,moderate activitys and severe activitys(p<0.05/6).Serum 25(OH)vitamin D level in mild activity group and moderate activity group were both significantly higher than severe activitys(p<0.05/6).There was no statistically significant difference between remission group and mild activity.There was no statistically significant difference between mild acti-vitys and moderate activitys.According to the serum level of vitamin D deficiency extent grouping,compare severity of UC.Severity of UC in VD insufficiency group and VD deficiency group are both significantly more serious than VD deficiency groups.There was no statistically significant difference between Severity of UC in VD insufficiency group and VD deficiency groups.2.Serum IL-17 level:Serum IL-17 level in UC group(14.38±3.76 pg/ml)was significantly higher than controls(7.64±1.09 pg/ml)(p < 0.001).Serum IL-17 level in UC group classifled by disease activity:remission:11.54±3.02 pg/ml;activity:15.17 ±3.57pg/ml;mild activity:14.95±3.08pg/ml;moderate activity: 14.95±3.08pg/ml;sev-ere activity:16.49±3.36pg/ml.Serum IL-17 level in remission group was significantly lower than activitys,moderate activitys and severe activitys(p<0.05/6).There was no statistically significant difference between remission group and mild activitys,mild activitys and moderate activitys,mild activitys and severe activitys,moderate activi-tys and severe activitys.3.Vitamin D Level negatively correlated to the level of interleukin 17 in patients with UC.ConclusionSerum vitamin D level in patients with ulcerative colitis significantly was lower than that in healthy people,interleukin 17 level was significantly higher than that of healthy people.vitamin D and interleukin 17 level in patients with different severity of ulcerative colitis has A difference.Vitamin D level is negatively correlated with the severity of disease,and Interleukin 17 level is positively correlated with the severity of disease.
