Aims:We aimed to investigate the relation between Crohn's disease activity with vitamin D in patients with Crohn's disease to be hospitalized. Methods:In a retrospective study of 246 CD patients to be hospitalized and 40 healthy controls from March 2014 to February 2016,the 25(OH)D levels were compared in CD patients and controls. In 246 CD patients, the 25(OH)D levels are compared in BMI?Crohn's disease activity index(CDAI)?CRP and ESR.Meanwhile The 25(OH)D levels were compared between before and after the treatment in 19 CD patients.Through the ROC of 25(OH)D levels to find out the cutoff point.Results:25(OH)D levels were lower in CD patients than healthy controls(median19.9 nmol/Lvs 49.9 nmol/L,p<0.01).In CD group,25(OH)D levels were negatively correlated with CDAI(r=-0.582,p<0.01),CRP(r=-0.334,p<0.01),ESR(r=-0.313,p<0.01)and BMI(r=-0.216,p<0.01),and according to CDAI score, the remission group[(median 39.7 nmol/L(26.9-53.2)).mild activity group(median 29.7 nmol/L).moderate activity group(median 16.1 nmol/L).severe activity group(median 7.5 nmol/L)have differnce(P<0.01)].After treatments the change of CDAI(before vs after treatment:321±92vsl80±63,p<0.01)were related with 25(OH)D levels(before vs after treatment:15.4 nmol/L±6.6vs34.3 nmol/L±12.6,p<0.01).Through ROC curves, the best cut off values of 25(OH)D levels in the groups(remission vs activity)were 23.7 nmol/L(AUCs were 0.842,p<0.01).Conclusion:The 25(OH)D levels were negatively correlated by the activity level of CD And the 25(OH)D levels may be a maker to evaluate the activity of disease but needed larger sample to verify it.
