Aim:To explore the expression of Sprouty2(SPRY2)in gastric cancer and adjacent tumor tissue, and to analyze the correlation between SPRY2 expression and the clinicopathologic factors and prognostic value.Materials and methods:We detected the expression of SPRY2 in 121 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma with immunohistochemistry, and further analyzed the correlation between SPRY2 and the clinicopathologic factors with Chi-square test. With Kaplan-Meier method,we evaluated the relation between SRPY2 and overall survival rate. With real-time PCR,we compared the mRNA levels of 11 pairs of gastric cancers and adjacent tumor tissues. Results:In the 121 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma,SPRY2 low expression accounted for 80 cases and SPRY2high expression took up 41 cases.SPRY2 mRNA in gastric cancer was significantly lower than in adjacent tumor tissue.SPRY2 expression was demonstrated to be significantly associated with lymphatic invasion(P<0.001)and TNM stage(P=0.004).Survival analysis with Kaplan-Meier method proved that there was significant difference betweenSPRY2 high-expression group and low-expression group, indicating SPRY2 as a prognostic factor for gastric adenocarcinoma.Conclusions:SPRY2 high expression was significantly associated with poorer prognosis of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma, and could be considered as a prognostic risk for gastric cancer.
