The Evaluation Of The Efficacy Of Needle-embedding Combing With Electro-acupuncture For Herpes Zoster

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of needle-embedding for herpes zoster combining with electro-acupuncture.Evaluating the difference of clinical efficacy between needle-embedding combining with electro-acupuncture and electro-acupuncture therapies for the disease. To find an effect way to release the neuralgia causing by varicella zoster virus, and assessing the safety and application of this therapy.Methods:72 patients with herpes zoster were selected and randomly divided into two groups, treated group and control group. Each group contented 36 patients. Needle-embedding and electro-acupuncture with moxibustion were applied on the treated group, while the electro-acupuncture with moxibustion were applied on the control group. Both groups took the Acyclovir?Gabapentin and Mecobalamine as a basic therapy. Evaluating the efficacy of the two kinds of therapies through VAS? PHQ-9 and GAD-7 etc. All the patients were followed up to observe the long-term curative effect when two weeks ? six weeks and twelve weeks after the treatment.Results:(1) 2 cases dropped of the 72 patients,1 in the treated group and 1 in the control group.(2) Clinical efficacy:There is no significant difference between the both groups on the total effective rate (P>0.05). And on the clinical cure rate, the control group is as well as the treated group (P>0.05)(3) VAS:The patients' scores of VAS of both groups specifically decrease after the treatment comparing with before (P<0.05),and there is no significant difference between the both groups on the scores of VAS (P>0.05)(4)Pain relief:There are significant difference between two groups on the days of 30% reliefment (P<0.01).The treated group is better than the control group.(5)PHQ-9?GAD-7:Both groups have significant difference of PHQ-9?GAD-7 grade between before and after the treatment (P<0.05), but there are no significant differences of PHQ-9 grade between the two groups after the treatment (P?0.05),while the differences of GAD-7 grade exist (P<0.05)(6) Follow-up:Only one patient which was in the control group recurred after the treatment.(7) Adverse reactions:During the treatment, one patient in the control group passed out because of acupuncture. One patient in the treated group had bled a little.The rest of the patients didn't find any adverse reactions.Conclusion:Both therapies are effective for herpes zoster, but the needle-embedding combining with electro-acupuncture therapy is better than the pure electro-acupuncture therapy on the curative efficacy. The needle-embedding combining with electro-acupuncture therapy relieves the pain more quickly, and has a steady long-term effect.
