As one of the most important subjects in the field of medicine and nanoscience,nanomedicine plays an important role in the development of medicine and nanoscience.To be the core research field of nanomedicine,nanomecine has received extensive attention and widely study in recent years.Nano-size drugs with controllable size can be modified by various surface molecular and different charge,which can target to certain organs and show significant advantages in tumor therapy.At present,the nanomedicines have been developed in many fields,such as nano delivery system,molecular contrast agent,inorganic nanomedicine and so on.Many inorganic nanoparticles exhibit unique properties,and as a tumor targeting drug delivery system,they can also play a dual role in tumor therapy.However,many of the inorganic nanomedicine have been shown to have important application prospects,but also have many disadvantages.The toxic effects and metabolic difficulties of inorganic nanomedicine are the bottleneck of the clinical application of inorganic nanoparticles.So,it is necessary for us to develop new inorganic nanomedicine to overcome these problems.Cuprous oxide nanoparticles(CONPs)is a kind of inorganic nanomedicine,which contains the one valence copper element.In our previous research on the anti-tumor effects of CONPs,we found that CONPs can selectively kill the cancer cells,and can induce the apoptosis of melanoma.At the same time,cuprous oxide nanoparticles exhibit minimal toxicity of kidney and liver,and can be rapid cleared,which show ideal characteristics in the tumor therapy.Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in the male reproductive system.With the continuous use of androgen antagonists,the majority of prostate cancer patients showed signs of androgen resistance,which is called castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).Although the treatment methods continue to diversity castration resistant prostate cancer,there are still many shortcomings,and new anti-CRPC drug and methods should be developed.Based on the biological basis of the similarity between melanoma and prostate cancer,we will try to test the anti-tumor effects on the prostate cancer,and we will also explore the mechanism of CONPs,especially the effects on the prostate cancer.Cuprous oxide nanoparticles can significantly induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells,and show minimal toxicity on the normal prostate cancer epithelial cell.In the subcutaneous nude mice model,CONPs can also show ideal effects on the subcutaneous prostate cancer.The mechanism study showed that CONPs can inhibit the Wnt signaling pathway and inhibit the stemness of prostate cancer,which suggest that CONPs may provide a potential method for the treatment of castration resistant prostate cancer.
