With the popularization of data acquisition methods such as 3D scanning and pyramidal CT,the digitalization of oral cavity has been greatly promoted.The visualization of the dental field data should not only be limited to showing 3D data to the dentist,but also using 3D processing and analysis technology to provide more accurate three-dimensional information for the dentist to assist them to simulate,predict and evaluate the treatment.The visualization of the dental field data has become a hotspot of visualization technology.This paper describes the applications of several technologies of 3D processing and visualization in the field of oral cavity field.In this paper,we introduce the application of collision detection,feature extraction and segmentation,point cloud registration and so on in the oral cavity.We present a collision detection algorithm based on kd-Tree to find the nearest point pair,and show the occlusal contact between the upper and lower jaw models of the patient.In the field of tooth segmentation,we propose an automatic tooth segmentation algorithm based on new curvature feature extraction and region growing to improve the speed and precision of tooth segmentation.Finally,we apply the registration method based on nearly uniform point set in point cloud reconstruction to oral cavity treatment before and after matching,the models were registered before and after treatment,and the bias between the two models was calculated to help the dentist assess the outcome of the treatment.In the visualization of CBCT volume data,this paper presents a hybrid method of volume data and geometric data,which is applied to implant nail positioning and simulation placement in dental implantation.This method can be more intuitive to the dentist to show the relative position of the implant and the patient's alveolar bone condition,assist the surgeon to place the implant.
