ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between preoperative blood Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and the clinicopathologic features of patients with colorectal cancer. To analyze the changes of NLR before and after operation in patients with colorectal cancer. To explore whether NLR can be used as a tumor index of colorectal cancer, and the clinical significance of combineing NLR with CEA and CA19-9 in the dectction of colorectal cancer.Method Retrospective analysis of the clinical and pathological data of 326 cases of colorectal cancer patients who were treated in the department of colorectal surgery, the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, during the period from January 2011 to December 2012, and the date of 330 cases of persons who were received medical examination in Ningxia Medical University General Hospital for medical examination during the same period.Comparising the preoperative NLR of patients with colorectal cancerand to the NLR of normal physical examination person.Preoperative blood neutrophil counts(N),lymphocyte counts(L) and NLR strends of different TNM stages patients were analyzed. In addition, according to the preoperative NLR,the patients were divided into low NLR group(NLR?2) and high NLR group(NLR>2). Clinicopathologic parameters were compared between the two groups.Postoperative NLR and preoperative NLR of the patients were compared, analysis of their changes and significance. To compare the positive rates of using NLR, CEA, CA19-9,and combineing them in testing colorectal cancer.Rusult(1)Preoperative NLR in colorectal cancer group was significantly higher than that in normal physical examination group, the difference was statistically significant,(P< 0.05).(2)The preoperative NLR of colorectal cancer patients were gradually increased from stage I to stage IV,and the NLR of stage IV patients is higher than former three stages patients significantly,(P<0.05).(3)There were significant differences in age, tumor location, neoplastic intestinal obstruction, radical resection, tumor size, tumor gross findings, histological differentiation, infiltration, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, remote metastasis and TNM stage,(P<0.05).(4)NLR was significantly decreased after surgery for colorectal cancer patients compared with preoperative NLR,(P <0.05).There is a significant difference between preoperative NLR and NLR after surgery in patients with stage II ~ IV, T4?N0~N2?M0~M1,(P<0.05).(5)The positive rates of NLR,CEA and CA19-9combined detection of colorectal cancer were higher than that of the single application. Conclusion Preoperative NLR value was correlated with differentiation degree, depth of invasion, metastasis, and tumor stageof colorectal cancer.NLR value was significantly decreased after surgical resection of colorectal cancer patients. Combined NLR, CEA and CA19-9 can improve the positive rate of detecting colorectal cancer.NLR is expected to be a tumor index of colorectal cancer.
