Objective To explore whether there are differences in the levels of sex hormones, gonadotropins, blood lipids and these proportions among different age groups though investigating the levels of serum sex hormones, groadotropines and blood lipid levels among aged men and postmenopausal women in urban communities of Ningxia Hui Autonomos Region for gaining the information about the association between the sex hormones, gonadotropins and metabolic disorders of blood lipids and to prevent related diseases. Methods Recruiting 1822 inhabitants from five urban communities in Yinchuan and Wuzhong cities. The survey and the physical examination were carried out from August 2011 to December 2012.The serum testosterone(T), estradiol(E2) follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH), Luteotropic hormone(LH) and total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were tested. The FT and BT were caculated. SPSS 17.0 was used to analyze and study the association between the levels of sex hormones and blood lipids. Results 1?In male, with increased age,T level decreased(r=-0.126,P<0.05), while the levels of LH and FSH showed increased trend(r=0.186,r=0.243,P<0.05).In postmenopausal women, the levels of E2,T were decreased with increased age(r=-0.368,r=-0.240,P<0.05);The levels of FSH, LH a were increased with aging(r=0.119,r=0.192,P<0.05). Among group(age?60years old), LH and FSH levels were higher than the group(age<60years old) in both male and female.Among postmenopausal women, the levels of E2, T in the group(age?60 years old) were lower than that of the group(age<60 years old). The ratios of T/LH,T/FSH,E2/FSH,E2/LH in the group(age?60 years old)were lower than that of the group(age<60years old)(P<0.05) in both male and female. With increased age,the levels of FT and BT in male were decreased(r=-0.223,r=-0.220,P<0.01).2?In this study, the general prevalence of dyslipidemia was 36.54%.However, the prevalence of dyslipidemia was 31.96% in Hui ethnic group, and it was 38.12%, in Han ethnic group(X2=4.727,P<0.05);The level of triglyceride in Han was higher than that of in Hui ethnic group. The level of HDL in Han was lower than that of the Hui nationality(P<0.05). The levels of T, E2,LH,FSH were no significant difference between Han and Hui nationalities(P<0.05).3 ? With decreased of E2 level in female, the levels of TC were increased(r=-0.077, P<0.05). With increased of LH level, the levels of TG and TC were increased(r = 0.117, r = 0.069, P<0.05). With decreased of T level in male, the levels of TC,TG were increased(r=-0.128,r=-0.169,P<0.05). With increased of FSH level, the levels of TG and TC were increased(r=0.076,r=0.081, P<0.05).4?In the investigation, with the levels of TT, BT and FT in male decreased, the systolic blood pressure were decreased. With increased of LH level, systolic blood pressure was increased; In postmenopausal women, with decreased of TT level, systolic blood pressure were increased. With increased of FSH and LH levels, systolic blood pressure was increased(P<0.05). The levels of T, FT and BT in male of hypertension group were significantly lower than that of normal blood pressure group, however, the level of FSH of female and male in the normal blood pressure group was lower than the hypertension group(P<0.05).Conclusions 1 ? With age increased, the levels of T, E2 were decreased ipostmenopausal women. In male, with increased age,T,FT and BT levels were decreased. Both in male and female, the levels of LH and FSH increased,it was due to the compensatory secretion from pituitary.2?The prevalence of dyslipidemia in Hui ethnic group, was higher than that in Han ethnic group, probably due to ethnic customs and religious, Hui people don't eat pork, but Han does.3?There was no significant difference in the levels of sex hormones between the Hui and Han ethnic groups.4?The levels of T, FT, BT were correlated with systolic blood pressure and TG,with decreased of E2 level in female, the levels of TC were increased in the study. The appropriate physiological dose of hormone may to prevent and improve the treatment of the disease earlier.
